Qi Gong (Chee Kung) is a healing art
that uses a combination of breath,
movement, self-massage and intent to
create an elixir (the Qi) that is stored
within us. Qi Gong is deeply relaxing,
frees inner tension and gets
stagnate/blocked energy flowing. It
promotes faster healing, enhances
the immune system, and develops the
power to release your inner potential.
It can be practiced standing up, sitting
(wheelchair), or lying down (if sick).

TRANSFORMATIONAL BREATHWORK: THE BREATH OF LIFE
Transformational Breathwork is a healing modality that uses the breath to
transform your being at cellular and energetic levels. It balances the
body/mind/spirit.
Without breath, there is no life. Because breathing is an automatic
biological function, it is not generally realized that it can also be a
voluntary process, which can be used consciously to enhance the quality
of our life and the health of our being. Transformational Breathing is one
of the most comprehensive techniques to open up the breath and to
correct old ineffective ways of breathing. We learn how to use the breath
to reduce stress, increase energy, heighten self-awareness, let go of
limiting beliefs, oxygenate and detoxify the body, improve the quality of
breathing, heal emotional traumas and connect more fully with Spirit.
The tradition and knowledge of breathwork is found in all meditative
practices, martial arts and ancient Eastern and indigenous philosophies.
For centuries, people have known and practiced the restorative and life-
enhancing powers of the breath. Breath is the very energy of life. It
provides all-important oxygen to our cells, unites and deepens our
mind/body connection and strengthens our ties to all that lives.
As you are reading, start to pay attention to your breathing. Are you
inhaling deeply and fully into your belly (diaphragmatic breathing)? Or
does your breathing feel shallow? Is your exhale an easy release? Do
you notice yourself pausing before you inhale or before you exhale? If
you are like most people, your breathing is in some way irregular, shallow
or restricted. And you are, therefore, limiting the amount of energy
flowing to your body and mind.
This constriction and restriction happens regularly and quite innocently to
most of us. Just think about how your breathing changes when you are
afraid or upset. Most people instinctively withdraw from these types of
emotional situations, and one of the mechanisms used to control the flood
of feelings is to hold or restrict our breathing. We do this in an attempt to
be self-protective and to not feel the “bad” feelings. What we are actually
doing, though, is suppressing or repressing the negative emotional
energy of the experience into our bodies. Keeping it repressed (held in
the subconscious) over time requires a tremendous ongoing expenditure
of energy, creates chronic tension in our bodies, and requires us to
continue to breathe in shallow and restricted patterns.
The first endeavor is to open the breath and clear restricted breathing
patterns. Most of us have shut down our breathing significantly. Simple
techniques such as position, toning, acupressure and suggestion can
help you begin to open up your breathing. A deep connected breath
pattern facilitates this process more.
Once the breath is open and flowing, this deep, full and circular breathing
pattern creates an opening to the subconscious mind. Breathing into
previously closed places allows to surface negativity, repressed emotions
and memories, and other patterns of dense or blocked energy. As
feelings, thoughts and physical sensations arise during a breath session,
breathers are supported and encouraged by their coaches to simply allow
the process to happen, trusting that everything that we are feeling is
natural and safe. Instead of resisting (what we resists persists) any
uncomfortable emotions or bodily sensations, breathe joy into these
places and flow with the breath. Old emotions and traumas are healed at
the cellular level. They are quickly, effectively and permanently
transmuted into a higher energy form – without the need for reliving or
consciously processing each accumulated hurt.
Transformational Breathing also allows us to access higher levels of
consciousness. Spiritual awareness is embodied and brought to the
conscious level. Breathers often receive insight, clarity and spiritual gifts
during and after their sessions. With each breathing session, they
become lighter and clearer as they gain the ability to see past illusion and
follow their own inner guidance.
Transformation Breathing is safe and effective and the results are
permanent. It is all about self-awareness, self-healing and self-
empowerment.
Quotable Quotes
Disease & Breathing – “Breathing, in short, is the key that unlocks the
whole catalog of advanced biological function and development. Is it any
wonder that it is so central to every aspect of health? Breathing is the
first place, not the last, one should look when fatigue, disease, or other
evidence of disordered energy presents itself. Breathing is truly the body’
s most basic communication system.” OXYGEN BREAKTHROUGH by
Sheldon Saul Hendler, MD PhD, pg. 96.
Blood Pressure & Breathing – “. . .the relationship between breathing and
blood pressure has been known and understood for a long time. It boils
down to this: Elevated blood pressure accompanies those body states
where rapid, shallow breathing prevails. By altering breathing to a slow
diaphragmatic mode, blood pressure decreases.” THE BREATH
CONNECTION by Robert Fried, PhD, pg. 152.
Cancer & Breathing – “The first discovery was made by Nobel Prize
winner Dr. Otto Warburg, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Cell
Physiology in Berlin. He confirmed that the key precondition for the
development of cancer is a lack of oxygen at the cellular level.” OXYGEN
HEALING THERAPIES by Nathaniel Altman, Pg. 66.
The Lymphatic System & Breathing – “Jack Shields, MD, a lymphologist
from Santa Barbara, CA, conducted a study on the effects of breathing on
the lymphatic system. Using cameras inside the body, he found that deep
diaphragmatic breathing stimulated the cleansing of the lymph system by
creating a vacuum effect, which sucked the lymph through the
bloodstream. This increased the rate of toxic elimination by as much as
15 times the normal pace.”
Detoxification & Breathing – “Many healings of other physical troubles
have occurred in my clients after they started to integrate breathing
practices into their lives. There is a simple but encompassing reason that
may explain this. The human body is designed to discharge 70% of its
toxins through breathing. Only a small percentage of toxins are
discharged through sweat, defecation and urination. If your breathing is
not operating at peak efficiency, you are not ridding yourself of toxins
properly.” CONSCIOUS BREATHING by Gay Hendricks, PhD, pg. 17.
Asthma & Breathing – “One study on treating asthma patients conducted
by researchers John Goyeche, Dr. Ago and Dr. Ikemi suggests that any
effective treatment should address suppressed emotions – such as
anxiety and self-image – as well as the physical dimensions. To achieve
this they encourage correction of poor posture, and helping the person to
relax the irrelevant respiratory muscles, while restoring full diaphragmatic
breathing…The good news is that a well-rounded breathwork practice will
do all these things.” THE BREATHING BOOK BY Donna Farhi, p. 207.
Breathing and Heart Disease – “…healthy breathing should be the first
thing taught to a heart patient. A Dutch study, conducted by Dr. Dixhoorn,
compared two groups of heart attack patients. The first group was taught
simple diaphragmatic breathing, while the second group was given no
training in breathing. The breathing group had no further heart attacks,
while 7 out of the 12 members of the second group had second heart
attacks over the next 2 years. CONSCIOUS BREATHING by Gay
Hendricks, PhD, p 16. “Coronary heart disease is due to a lack of oxygen
received by
the heart.”
